On the dawn of town election season, Selectman Troy Garron was the first person to take out nomination papers for reelection. Town Clerk Barbara J. Gaynor said in an interview that Garron took papers out on the first available day, and that those wishing to run for public office have until March 27 to return the papers for the May 17 election. Other town officials whose terms expire this year include: Planning Board member Edward Whitney, Silver Lake School Committee member Edward Desharnais; Elementary School Committee members Cassandra Hanson and Pamela Anderson. A full listing can be found on the town’s website town.halifax.ma.us under the departments and elections.
