Winter concerts kick off

The Winter Concert Series begins this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Norwood High School auditorium with the Tom Nutile Big Band. Olga Abdallah, a member of the Norwood Concerts on the Common Committee, said in an interview that generous sponsors make it possible for the concerts to be free and open to the public, at no cost to the town. While the summer concert series has been going on for two decades, this is only the second year for the winter series. She said last year’s concert series was a success, with people of all ages enjoying the music, as well as the chance to see the new high school with its spacious auditorium and comfortable seating. “It’s a wonderful way of spending a Sunday afternoon during the winter,” Abdallah said. Upcoming concerts include the Roy Scott Big Band, on Feb. 2; the Westwood Swing Band on Feb. 9, and the SOS Big Band on Feb. 16.
