Braintree

World Series trophy coming to town

Even with the Boston Celtics slumping and the New England Patriots sent packing, sports fans in Braintree can look forward to this bright spot: The Red Sox’s 2013 World Series Trophy will appear at Town Hall Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Residents will be allowed to view and take photographs with the gold-plated Commissioner’s Trophy, made by Tiffany & Co. In an announcement welcoming the trophy, Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan lauded the 2013 team, saying, “it was the third championship in 10 years, but these Red Sox became very special and provided a much needed lift for the Greater Boston area.” The viewing was timed to be convenient for students getting out of school, Sullivan’s office said. Sullivan is asking residents who visit the trophy to wear Red Sox apparel to “show that Braintree is the center of Red Sox Nation.”
