Police searching for bank robbery suspects

Local and State Police investigators as well as FBI agents were searching for two suspects in Monday’s armed robbery of the Mansfield Bank branch at 728 West Center St. (Route 106). Witnesses reported that two men wearing black ski masks walked into the bank shortly before 2 p.m. and demanded money, according to police. One suspect was armed with a pump-type shotgun while the other wielded a handgun. Local police were joined by state and federal officers and four K9 units in a search of a wooded area next to the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, about a quarter-mile from the bank. The suspects were described by police as white males who wore black hooded sweat shirts, ski masks, and sunglasses. They fled west on Center Street with an undetermined amount of cash in a dark-colored Ford sedan. A car matching the description was found in the Life Care Center’s parking lot; it had been reported stolen in Braintree on Sunday.
