The School Committee will appoint an interim member this month to serve until the annual election in April, after the resignation of David Emhardt less than a year into his term. School Committee chairwoman Cindy Thomas read Emhardt’s letter of resignation during the panel’s meeting on Jan. 16. Emhardt, who was elected to the committee last spring, stated that he was leaving for “personal reasons,” and that he was honored to serve and would be glad to serve again if another opportunity arose. Thomas said at the meeting that the seat would be on the ballot as a two-year position, completing Emhardt’s term.
