SouthField exec at Feb. 11 breakfast

The executive in charge of the besieged SouthField development will meet with business leaders at the annual Rockland Chamber of Commerce breakfast Feb. 11. Matthew Barry, a Starwood Land Ventures vice president, said in a recent phone interview that he has been meeting with interested parties in Rockland, Weymouth, and Abington. Further construction on SouthField has come to a halt, and Starwood has attributed this to the Tri-Town Development Corp., a group of officials from the three towns that oversees planning, zoning, and infrastructure for the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station. In recent months, Starwood has been promoting legislation that would dilute Tri-Town’s power and give the company more flexibility. “Our plan is a presentation of solutions that carry the project forward,” Barry said. “We’re open to any solution.” The event will be held at the Rockland Holiday Inn at 7:45 a.m., and costs $30 for chamber members and $45 for general admission.
