Cranberry Cove, Hanson’s public beach on Maquan Pond, is opening for the season on Wednesday. Beach hours will be noon to 7 p.m. each day, subject to change over the season based on lighting conditions. Cranberry Cove is part of Camp Kiwanee, the 64-acre town-owned camp off Route 58 that includes the Needles Lodge function hall, rustic cabins, and tent sites. The beach is open only to Hanson residents with a pass, which costs $75 per household. Passes can be purchased at the beach during its regular hours. To sign up for swimming lessons or the swimming team, contact beach director Paige Cameron at cranberrycove@campkiwanee.com.
