Dedham Square delivery rules changed

Faced with parking and traffic issues following the completion of the Dedham Square Improvement Project, selectmen reduced the number of loading zones for businesses in the square and extended the loading hours. Town Director of Engineering Jason Mammone presented a plan June 5 to eliminate all loading zones in the square except for the one in front of the Dedham Community Theatre. While loading zones had previously operated from 5 to 7 a.m., this loading zone will operate from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. The old loading zones in front of Ron’s Ice Cream and D’Angelo’s will be converted into street parking, according to Mammone. Mammone said hours had to be increased because some delivery trucks could not get to the square during the restricted hours and would then double park to unload, causing traffic difficulties.
