Officials recently determined that a pet day-care facility may continue to operate under conditions initially set forth last year. After receiving several complaints from neighbors last fall, selectmen imposed restrictions — including how many dogs may be outside at one time and what hours they are allowed out — for A Fox and Hounds Pet Care on Grove Street and said they would revisit the business in the spring. At a recent public hearing, the board voted unanimously to allow the facility to continue operation. “A letter from the closest neighbor saying the conditions were working, coupled with the report from the animal control officer that he’d found no violations on his 25 unannounced visits, were the basis for my vote,” said chairwoman Ellen Allen. All but one of the three neighbors who had raised concerns last fall dropped their nuisance complaints prior to the selectmen’s meeting.
