Two Hingham High School students achieved national honors over their summer break.

Aidan Pierce was one of two Massachusetts boys to be elected by his peers to attend Boys Nation in Washington, D.C. He was elected to go while attending Massachusetts Boys State, thanks to support from the Hingham American Legion Post #120, according to Andy Hoey, director of social studies for the Hingham schools.

Meanwhile, Hoey said, Kyra McConnell earned a trip to the National History Day competition in Washington after attending the Massachusetts History Day competition in the spring. She performed an original, one-woman show about activist Margaret Sanger.
