The town of Hingham has decided to take its case against Aquarion Water Co. to the state’s highest court.
In a Nov. 21 statement, town officials said they are requesting that the Supreme Judicial Court review the case to determine the purchase price for the Hingham water system. The request comes after the state Appeals Court earlier in the month upheld a Superior Court ruling in favor of Aquarion, which says the purchase price for the system is now about $100 million.
“As members of the Board of Selectmen, we have a responsibility to both current and future generations of Hingham residents,” said board chairwoman Mary Power in the statement. “We are of the unanimous opinion to finish what the town started by seeking a ruling from the state’s highest court.”Jean Lang can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
