Interfaith Social Services of Quincy said it received a donation of $70,000 from Walmart in late November. Rick Doane, the nonprofit’s executive director, said the retailer’s donation “allows us to sustain our vital family assistance programs,” such as mental health counseling services and its food bank.

South Shore Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its fourth home in Duxbury in November. The single family home is the first of seven affordable home projects the nonprofit will bring to the town. The organization’s director, Martine Taylor, said that the homes are “not a hand-out.” The nonprofit said families which purchase homes from them will receive a 30-year zero-interest mortgage with a “perpetual deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home.”

AAA announced it will have key Registry of Motor Vehicle services for its members at its Plymouth branch as of Dec. 1. The public-private partnership will provide “convenience for AAA members and consumers across the Commonwealth,” said Lloyd Albert, the organization’s senior vice president. Members can get their driver’s licenses and IDs renewed, registration transferred, and more.

Symmons Industries , of Braintree, hosted an event in late November that celebrated its recent expansion and manufacturing on the South Shore. The company’s chief executive, Timothy O’Keeffe, said it was important to “keep jobs local,” adding that nearly half of the 250,000 manufacturing jobs in the state are in the towns and cities south of Boston.
