Cancer pavilion in the works

Marlborough Hospital is in the design and fund-raising stages for the addition of a cancer pavilion to provide expanded services to the community. The hospital is seeking to raise $1.5 million to support construction of the facility, which will be a 14,500-square-foot addition on the north side of the hospital that will include such services as medical and radiation oncology. Groundbreaking for the facility, an extension of the UMass Memorial Health Care Cancer Center of Excellence in Worcester, will be held next month, officials said. The Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $8,000 to the hospital, $2,500 of which was specifically raised for the cancer pavilion. “The new cancer pavilion is a wonderful addition to our hospital, our patients and the community,’’ said Ellen Carlucci, the hospital’s development director. “It will provide cutting-edge cancer treatment close to home.’’ For more information, contact Melissa Hodgson at 508-486-5805 or melissa.hodgson@umassmemorial.org. - Michelle Cerulli
