Deadlines set for film festival

The Arlington International Film Festival has announced the deadline for submitting entries to be considered for the October event. The nonprofit festival was launched last fall in an effort to foster increased awareness and appreciation of independent films that explore the lives of people around the world. The second installment, slated for Oct. 17 to 21, will feature films in the categories of narrative feature-length and short films, documentary features and short films, experimental, animation, and short films directed by high school students 18 years old or younger. Early submissions are due by May 31, and the official deadline is June 30; late entries will be accepted until July 31. The entrance fees range from $15 to $65, depending on the category and when the work is submitted. There is no fee for the short films submitted in the high school competition.
