Young musicians rock out in Needham to support Dup15q

Young rock musicians’ concerts to benefit research into rare genetic disorder

It has always been the mission of Plugged in, a Needham-based center for youths who like to play rock music, to instill in its students a commitment to give back to their communities. So when 12-year-old Nelson Barnett of Belmont learned that they would vote on a beneficiary for their winter concert this weekend, he decided to lobby for the Dup15q Alliance, which helps children like Nelson’s younger brother Roland who are born with a rare genetic disorder called chromosome 15q duplication syndrome.
