The town’s Green Technology and Recycling Committee will host a public meeting Thursday about the goals and benefits of becoming a Green Community. Committee chairman Carl Guyer, Kelly Brown, a state Department of Energy Resources regional coordinator, and Rethinking Power Management spokeswoman Anita Haspiel will discuss the Green Communities program, including why they believe it is a worthwhile effort. The primary goals of the state program are to encourage the growth of environmentally conscious industries, and reduce municipal and household operating costs through energy-efficient practices. The session starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Southborough Library, 25 Main St. - Jennifer Roach
