Election ballot takes shape

The deadline for filing nomination papers for the annual town election has passed, and the Board of Selectmen’s chairman, Jason Smith, is running unopposed for reelection. Heather Connolly, who missed the cut for School Committee in last year’s election by 99 votes, is trying again this spring. She will join incumbents Beverly Hugo and Andrew Limeri in a race for two three-year seats on the committee. Connolly also put her name in for the interim School Committee position created by Rick Finlay’s departure last month, but the secretary of state’s office said she can run in only one category and must choose between the two. Donald Taggart is also hoping for the chance to finish out Finlay’s term, which ends in 2013. The other race is for four open seats on the Framingham Public Library’s board of trustees. Incumbents Maria Barry, Nancy Coville Wallace, and Janet Harrington face newcomers Eric Doherty and George Brown, who both are Town Meeting members. The election will be April 3; the deadline to register to vote in the election is March 14 at 8 p.m.
