Talk to explore open spaces

The Friends of Upton State Forest turn their attention to the town’s open spaces at its Feb. 6. annual meeting. Friends member Bill Taylor will give a free talk on the history of local properties, including Peppercorn Hill, Warren Brook, Stefans Farm, and Sweetwilliam Farm. The Friends of Upton State Forest work with the state and the town’s Open Space Committee to protect natural and historic resources in town. The annual meeting will also feature an update on those efforts, and plans for the year ahead. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 15 Milford St. For more information, e-mail friends@friendsofuptonstateforest.org.
