Grant will pay for safety equipment

As part of its commitment to safety and controlling costs, the town has obtained a $5,000 loss-control grant that will be used to purchase work-zone safety equipment. The gear, including barricades and traffic cones, will be used to protect police officers, motorists, and pedestrians at road and building construction areas. The grant is from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association, which provides the town’s insurance coverage, The association offers the funds to its member municipalities for equipment and training programs that address safety and loss prevention issues, with the goal of helping communities avoid accidents and potential costly claims. - Nancy Shohet West
