Locals youths will have the opportunity to show off their fishing skills at the George Chiasson Memorial Trout Fishing Derby, set for 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 14 at Tripps Pond on River Street, said Steven Santos, assistant director of the town’s Division of Recreation. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish caught, first fish caught, and the longest fish. There will also be 18 raffle prizes, which include gift certificates and bikes. Participants will be broken down into three age groups: the Sun Fish for ages 6 and younger, the Blue Gills for ages 7 to 11, and the Cat Fish for ages 12 to 16. Registration is $2 per child, and will open March 5. - Derek McLean
