Forum on funding requests

The League of Women Voters of Lexington will hold a forum Friday to discuss which projects are being recommended to receive funding through the local Community Preservation Act program at Town Meeting this spring. Wendy Manz, chairwoman of the town’s Community Preservation Committee, will discuss the projects seeking funds, including a report and restoration plan on the historic Buckman Tavern structure, upgrades to the Muzzey Senior Center and Cary Memorial Hall, and drainage work at the Center Playground’s sports fields. The Community Preservation Act uses money raised through a 3 percent surcharge on property taxes and matching funds from the state to pay for open space, recreation, affordable housing, and historic preservation projects. The forum will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the community room of the Cary Memorial Library. - Brock Parker
