Library holds writing competition for teens

Registration for the Marlborough Public Library’s Teen Writing Competition closes Friday. The competition is open to all teen residents or students in Marlborough. There will be four prizes of $100 awarded, two for each age group (seventh- to ninth-graders and 10th- to 12th-graders) in the categories of stories and poetry. Entries must be fewer than 1,000 words for fiction and nonfiction stories, and less than 30 lines of poetry. To enter, fill out a registration form, which is available on the library’s page at www.marlborough-ma.gov, and e-mail it, along with your writing submission, to Jess Bacon, the young-adult librarian, at jbacon@cwmars.org. - Derek McLean
