EPA cites gains on toxic site

Starmet update set for Wednesday

Federal environmental officials and private contractors working to clean up a contaminated property on Main Street will update the public this week on recent efforts to secure the site and plans to demolish the existing buildings. Officials will be on hand to discuss work done so far and answer questions about plans for removing the former Starmet Corp. buildings at 2229 Main St., a designated Superfund site contaminated with depleted uranium.
