Neighbors, officials laud General Chemical’s exit

-- The General Chemical Corporation’s decision to shut down its hazardous waste storage facility in Framingham next month is the end of one chapter in the site’s history and the beginning of another. Critics who for years raised alarms about pollution at General Chemical hailed the firm’s decision. But now some officials and residents worry about how the company intends to clean up an underground toxic plume that has been emanating from the Leland Street facility..
