Hoist a pint to history

Local commemorations of the Civil War’s 150th anniversary commemorations are still in full swing. The Framingham History Center is hosting a launch party at John Harvard’s Brew House in Shoppers World for General Gordon’s Nut Brown Ale, a specialty brew named after the esteemed Civil War general from Framingham, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. In addition to free beer samples and appetizers, there will be copies of Framingham historian Fred Wallace’s book on General George H. Gordon. The beer will be brewed and sold at John Harvard’s through May 31; the restaurant will donate $1 to the Framingham History Center for each pint sold. - Megan McKee
