‘Hunger Games’ at library

The Northborough Free Library is holding a special event from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday to celebrate the upcoming release of a movie version of “The Hunger Games.’’ The program is for grades 5 and up, and will consist of a variety of training activities to prepare for the Hunger Games arena, just as in the book by Suzanne Collins. Activities include camouflage painting, making buttons and bows and arrows, decorating cupcakes, and a special game mimicking the arena contests. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the Northborough Food Pantry as their entry fee; each donated item will earn a raffle ticket in a drawing for passes to “The Hunger Games,’’ which opens in theaters March 23. To sign up, or for more information, call the library at 508-393-5025, ext. 5. - Jennifer Roach
