New role supporting women’s health

As senior program officer at the MetroWest Health Foundation, Rebecca H. Donham of Holliston spends her days trying to address the unmet health needs of residents in 25 area communities. In her new role as a commissioner of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, she hopes to use her expertise to help improve women’s health statewide, particularly in the low-income and minority communities where she sees a disparity in care. Donham was appointed to the independent state agency by the Caucus of Women Legislators. She joins 18 others on the commission, which was created by the Legislature in 1998 “to advance women of the Commonwealth to full equality in all areas of life, and to promote their rights and opportunities,” according to an announcement on Donham’s appointment. The graduate of Haverford College has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Pennsylvania, and also serves on the boards of the MetroWest Nonprofit Network and the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. - Ellen Ishkanian
