Gala set for historic house

The Friends of the Dwight-Derby House have announced a spring gala to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the year they formed to preserve the historic property. Constructed in the 1600s, the Dwight-Derby House, located near Meeting House Pond in Medfield, was privately owned until the town acquired it in the mid-1990s. Convening for the first time in 1996, the Friends raised money to make the purchase, and they still raise funds to further the renovation of the building. The gala, for which tickets went on sale last week, will be held at the Dwight-Derby premises on May 19. Tours of the house will be offered and proceeds will be put toward its continued restoration. The cost is $75 per person. For more information, contact Cheryl O’Malley at cheryl.omalley@verizon.net. - James O’Brien
