New superintendent chosen

Rebecca McFall, currently director of curriculum and instruction in the Wellesley public schools, will be the new superintendent in Lincoln. The School Committee unanimously selected McFall to replace Mickey Brandmeyer, who is retiring June 30. McFall is expected to start July 1. The other finalist was Andre Ravenelle, superintendent of the Fitchburg schools. “In choosing Dr. McFall, we recognized the centrality of children to her decision-making, her ability to build consensus, her skills in evaluation, supervision and team development, a commitment to careful process and clear communication, her deep understanding of curriculum, and a growth mentality which allows her to positively challenge those around her while simultaneously providing the support needed for success,’’ said School Committee member Jennifer Glass. “We also valued her commitment to her own continued learning, her desire to take on the challenge of becoming superintendent, and the passion she expressed for working in our community. We believe that she will build on the positive work that the district is currently doing, and be a thoughtful and creative leader.’’ - Jennifer Fenn Lefferts
