Race for Board of Selectmen

The May 1 town election ballot came into focus last week as deadlines closed for submitting nomination papers. Jim Kane, the current chairman of the Board of Selectmen, will face Ben Tartaglia, a former member of the board, in his bid for reelection. Uncontested candidates will be on the ballot for seats on the School Committee, the library trustees, the Shrewsbury Housing Authority, and town moderator. There are still no candidates for Town Meeting members in precincts 2, 3, 4, and 9. According to Town Clerk Sandra Wright, interested residents can try for those seats via write-in votes on May 1. - James O’Brien
