Belmont gains ground on nonprofit payment

Belmont has met with its first success in its quest to convince more tax-exempt nonprofits to make voluntary payments to the town to help cover services. Last week, the Institute for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies delivered a check for $219.70 to the board of assessors, becoming the first nonprofit to respond to the town’s renewed push for an expanded payment in lieu of taxes, or PILOT, program.
