Company to add solar panels

A local real estate company has announced plans to build a large solar-panel energy system for its properties in town this spring. In its statement, Capital Group Properties said the project, which involves installing about 4,000 solar panels across 5 acres with a total power-generating capacity of 1 megawatt, will be the largest such system in the area. Solect Energy Development will be handling the installation of the panels, which will provide 100 percent of the electricity used in the common areas of its property at 150 Cordaville Road, Capital Group said, and any excess electricity would go toward its other buildings. The proposal has been approved by the town’s Building Department and the Conservation Commission. The company said it plans to complete the construction within the next few months. - Jennifer Roach
