Help beautify town April 14

Volunteers are needed for an annual community beautification day, which will be held April 14 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is cosponsored by the Millis Garden Club and Millis Lions Club. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 900 Main St. Volunteers will rake leaves and clean debris at various sites around town, including the public library, Richardson’s Pond, Veterans Memorial Building, and local schools. The garden club will ask businesses to keep their areas clean, by picking up trash and raking leaves. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and a rake labeled with their name. Once their sites are cleaned, volunteers can go home or go to the registration desk to be assigned a new area. Last year’s event drew more than 100 volunteers, with the majority of them students, said Karen Spath, the garden club’s secretary.
