Study targets traffic congestion on I-495 interchanges

State considering large and small improvements

State transportation officials are starting to formalize plans for improving stalled traffic at key interchanges off Interstate 495 that lead to the Massachusetts Turnpike and Route 9 at the border of Southborough and Westborough. Representatives from the state Department of Transportation and consultants hired with $285,000 in federal funds met Wednesday morning with representatives from area towns, businesses and regional planning groups to give an update at the midpoint of the study they hope to have finalized by December.
