Newton North High School’s Innovation Lab is drawing plenty of attention from state dignitaries. Last week, Governor Deval Patrick toured the lab, part of the new Newton North building, after talking to Mayor Setti Warren and other municipal leaders during a monthly mayors association meeting. Patrick received a lesson on how students are trying to convert algae into fuel, and transforming unwanted grocery bags into outdoor grill covers and wallets, according to an announcement by Warren’s office. Last month, the state’s education secretary toured the lab with Warren and Superintendent David Fleishman. - Deirdre Fernandes
