Salary comparison in works
Town officials are putting together a work group to study how the salaries of Arlington’s public employees compare with their counterparts in similar communities. Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine told selectmen Monday that the group, including municipal officials and union representatives, will draft a request for proposals from consultants to conduct the study. Chapdelaine estimated that the study could cost about $25,000, and be completed by 2014. Members of the Arlington Education Association have been asking the town to compare the salaries of local teachers with those in comparable communities, in part because of their agreement to shift to coverage through the state’s Group Insurance Commission.
