Native of Latvia seeks Holocaust justice

Newton man won’t give up fight

A few years ago, when Eugene Levin returned to his native country, Latvia, he found a diagram of houses in the small town where his ancestors once lived. The map, sketched more than 70 years ago, had houses, including one where his grandfather's family lived, marked with an "X": These were the homes of Jewish residents. On July 18, 1941, nearly all of those families, including children, were murdered. Levin's grandfather, Mozus Berkovich survived and now 91 and living in Newton, is seeking compensation for the property that belonged to his family.
