Watertown police and fire split on public safety study

The Watertown Town Council this week launched discussions about a recent consultant’s report that has divided the public safety community. Watertown Fire Chief Mario Orangio has blasted the report as “reckless” because of it recommends cutting the staff on one ladder truck and suggests that response times to medical calls need to be improved. Watertown Police Chief Ed Deveau, however, has called the report on his department, “helpful.”
