Students reach global finals

Two teams of Medfield High School scholars are bound for Knoxville, Tenn., this week to compete in the global finals of Destination ImagiNation, an academic problem-solving tournament. The Medfield students who earned their way into the finals, which begin on Wednesday, are Chris Fennell, Ryan Maloney, Caroline Richard, Kelsey Sipple, Andrew Velichansky, and Jesse Zapata on one team, with coaches Joanne Romanow and Tom Fennell; and Isobel Burgess, Hannah Doctoroff, Elliot Jackson, Sean Motley, Allegra Pericles, and Jennifer Stavrakas, and coaches Maureen Doctoroff and Maria Baler on the other team. The program, hosted by an international nonprofit organization, challenges teens to solve open-ended problems by using any combination of technical and improvisatory methods. Team supporters are raising funds to help finance the students' trip, with the event’s opening ceremonies set for Wednesday. For more information, contact Maureen Doctoroff at 508-359-2884.
