Buy solar panels through town

Hopkinton was recently named one of 17 communities in the state chosen by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to participate in a group purchase of solar panels. The program aims to lower the cost of installing solar energy panels by getting groups together to buy in larger quantities, according to an announcement by the organization. Anyone owning a home or business in Hopkinton with a mostly unobstructed southern-facing roof or yard can qualify. Andy Boyce, chairman of Hopkinton’s Sustainable Green Committee, has been designated at the town’s “solar coach.” For more information about the program, visit the committee’s website, www.hopgreen.com or contact Boyce at solarizehopkinton@gmail.com.
