Five juniors from Bedford High School will compete this week at the final level of the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest, being held at the University of Maryland College Park. The students earned their berth in the competition by winning first place in the group performance category at the Massachusetts History Day in March with their project on Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt March in 1930. In addition, one local student will compete in the national event’s individual website category, based on her exploration of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Social studies teacher James Sunderland is serving as the student group’s adviser.
