The inaugural K9 Motorcycle Kruise to raise money to get a canine unit started in the Police Department will take place on June 23. The police-escorted motorcycle ride of approximately 50 miles will wind through area communities on a scenic and twisty route. Registration is $20 for riders and $10 for passengers, and begins at 9 a.m. on the day of the ride at Bazels Pizza Subs at 1568 Washington St., with “kick-stands up” at 11. Nonriders can take part in the post-cruise festivities, starting at 12:30 p.m., with a $10 donation. The proceeds will help cover the cost of starting a K-9 unit, including acquiring a dog, training for the dog and a police officer, and equipment, according to Andrea Minihan, in the Board of Selectmen’s office.
