Registration has opened for the third annual 24 Hours of Barefoot Soccer tournament; the first 50 people who sign up to play for at least an hour between 2 and 6 a.m. will receive a free 24 Hours of Soccer hoodie. The benefit event, organized by local soccer enthusiasts, will kick off at 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 at Hunnewell Fields, and participants will play barefoot soccer until 6 p.m. on Aug. 18. The goal is to raise money for Grassroot Soccer, a Vermont-based charity that teaches AIDS prevention to children in Africa. Last year’s tournament raised $12,000. Registration is a minimum donation of $25, and can be completed online at www.24hoursofsoccer.com.
