Digging continues on Beacon Street

 Traffic will be constrained to one lane eastbound and there will be no parking along the sidewalk on Beacon Street from St. Paul to St. Mary’s streets this month while the Department of Public Works continues to update sewer and storm drains in the area. Constructed before the practice of sewage treatment, the underground pipes often sent sewage into local waterways during rainstorms. This work should correct the issue by next year, according to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s construction schedule.
