With few exceptions, only electric leaf blowers can be used in Brookline during the warm weather months, per a bylaw passed by Town Meeting in November. Unless you are a town worker on town property, or have more than 5 acres to clear, using a gas-powered leaf blower before Sept. 15 can net you a fine of between $50 and $200, depending on how often you are caught.
