Here are a few key ingredients for a successful camp-out (if only in the backyard):

 Tent (or a blanket and tarp)


 Sleeping bags (or sheets and blankets), and a pad or air mattress (improvise with a pile of newspapers covered with a sheet)

 Flashlight and extra batteries
