Brookline Public Library offers free programs for children

If the end of the school year has already translated into boredom for the children, the Public Library of Brookline has a number of free offerings starting this week. Ed Popielarczyk will perform magic at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the main branch, at 361 Washington St., for ages 3 and up, followed by a workshop on balloon sculptures for ages 8 and up at 4 p.m. Brad Shur of the Puppet Showplace Theatre will stage a puppet show at the Putterham Branch, 959 West Roxbury Parkway, on July 3 at 10:30 a.m. On July 11, Bobby Brown and Syd Smart will hold a drumming workshop, “Make it and Play it,’’ at 3:30 p.m. for ages 3 and up at the Coolidge Corner Branch, 31 Pleasant St. More listings are available at www.brooklinelibrary.org.
