Group awards grants to boost innovative courses

The Arlington Education Foundation has awarded grants to several local schools to promote innovative teaching through programs ranging from weaving to music therapy. The nonprofit organization announced this month that it is awarding $29,000 to elementary schools and a preschool under its “Innovation in Education” and “Development and Expansion” programs. The funding will be used for courses using weaving to expand history and culture classes at Thompson School, a film festival at Hardy School, drama workshops at Bishop School, music therapy classes at Menotomy Preschool, and a math enrichment program at Peirce School.
