Plan for bow-hunting season on agenda

The Board of Selectmen is expected to vote Monday night on whether to approve a proposal by the Conservation Commission that would allow bow hunting for deer on town-owned forest land, according to Michael Harrity, the board’s chairman. The commission, which has proposed bow hunting as a way to cull the town’s burgeoning deer population, on Tuesday approved a set of regulations for the season that it will be presenting to selectmen Monday. The regulations would limit the number of permits issued, define the areas where hunting would be allowed, and give the commission the authority to cancel the season at any time, among other things. The bow-hunting season would run from Oct. 15 through Dec. 31.
