Town monitoring water supply after failed test

The town's water system recently violated a water-drinking standard. Four water samples taken on June 12 tested positive for total coliform bacteria. Eight repeat samples taken June 15 tested negative, as have all subsequent samples; as a result, residents don't need to boil water or take any other corrective actions. As a precaution, the town’s Water Division will continue to chlorinate the water and increase flushing in the affected area. For more information, call the Department of Public Works at 508-528-4990, e-mail DPW@virtualnorfolk.org, or visit the town's website, www.virtualnorfolk.org.
